PAINTWORKS
We at FibreCraft carry out complete paintworks. Upon arrival at our workshop, the external of the lifeboat is completely stripped. The skates are removed, reflective tapes will peel off and grablines cut. The complete external of the lifeboat will then sand down till its fiberglass substrate.
An epoxy based coat will be applied (below left) to the complete external of the lifeboat. A fire-retardant additive is added to the epoxy based coat to comply with SOLAS requirement.
A two part international orange poly urethane coat is then applied (below right), as a final coat with ultra-violet retardant additive for good and long lasting colour retention.
GELCOAT TREATMENT
Apart from carrying a full paint works on lifeboat, we at FibreCraft can also carry out gelcoat treatment. But there are limitations to this treatment (please check with our engineering manager).
Gelcoat treatment and polishing can bring back the shine to faded gelcoat surfaces and protect the external fiberglass lifeboat from further UV related degeneration.
